Psychological Testing & Assessment

Comprehensive psychological assessment can help clarify complex questions about emotional functioning, personality, diagnosis, strengths, and next steps. At Jackson Hole Behavioral Health, evaluations are individualized to the specific referral question rather than using a one-size-fits-all testing battery.

Assessment services may include psychological and personality evaluation, diagnostic clarification, and career or vocational assessment.

Psychological & Personality Assessment

Psychological assessment can provide a more complete understanding of emotional functioning, personality patterns, symptoms, and diagnostic questions. Testing may be useful when previous treatment has not provided enough clarity, when symptoms overlap, or when a more comprehensive understanding is needed to guide treatment and recommendations.

Career & Vocational Assessment

Career and vocational assessment can help clarify interests, strengths, personality, values, and potential career directions. This can be useful for adults considering a career change, young adults making educational or professional decisions, or anyone who feels stuck between several possible paths.

What to Expect

Assessment begins with an initial consultation to clarify the questions you would like the evaluation to address. Assessment measures are then selected based on those specific questions. Depending on the type of evaluation, the process may include clinical interviews, standardized psychological measures, review of relevant records, and additional assessment as appropriate.

After the evaluation is complete, results and recommendations are reviewed with you in a feedback session. When appropriate, a written report may also be provided.

Assessment Tools

Jackson Hole Behavioral Health uses well-established psychological and career assessment instruments selected according to the purpose of each evaluation. Specific measures vary depending on the referral question and are discussed as part of the assessment process.

Is Psychological Assessment Right for Me?

Psychological assessment may be helpful when symptoms are difficult to understand, diagnoses overlap, previous treatment has not provided enough clarity, or you are seeking a more comprehensive understanding of personality, strengths, functioning, or career direction.
